The Devotion Dress - Black

Floor-length Cheongsam-inspired dress in stretch satin.

Inspired by Wong Kar-wai's film In the Mood for Love, the Common Hours x Abbey Lee Devotion Dress is a hyper-feminine, flattering glove-fit dress in black, with a floor-length body-wrap effect and a thigh-high, cutaway side split, an exaggerated, tapered neck collar and a collarbone-slash detail. Half-dome buttons, covered by hand in the self fabric, start at the collarbone and follow the entire curve of the side body to the thigh-high split, fully functional and worn open or closed as you wish. Complete with horsehair and wadding through the exaggerated collar, the dress is fully lined in the self fabric for a seamless finish. It closes with an invisible centre-back zip. 

Crafted from densely woven two-way stretch matte satin from the Maison Bucol archive, milled in France by Maison Bucol, founded in 1924. Made from highly twisted polyamide yarns with no elastane, which was revolutionary at the time, it has a heavy stretch that looks like leather and fits like a glove.
