Sherlock's Mistress Coat
Oversized gingham trench dress in heavyweight wool felt
A dramatic outerwear piece inspired by British gentlemen's clubs and remote Scottish highlands. Featuring Common Hours' signature bespoke Oscar Wilde lining, Sherlock's Mistress is crafted from heavyweight blended virgin wool felt milled at Bonotto: the renowned Veneto mill famed as ‘the slow factory’ for its artisanal, art-led approach to weaving. The fabric is REACH compliant, dense, structured and warm, with the presence of a true winter coat.
Cut by hand and made in Australia, Sherlock's Mistress features a bespoke silk back-saddle lining printed with hand-drawn passages from essays by Oscar Wilde. A full-length trench with exaggerated trapeze silhouette and extravagant hem circumference, it features dramatic geometrically cut raglan sleeves, an oversized storm flap and a classic notch collar with felt under-collar detailed in heavyweight contrast zigzag stitching. Inset heavyweight top-stitching across all seams complete the piece, as well as self binding, lap and French seam finishes for inside-out perfection. A deep centre-back hem vent adds a sense of movement and drama.
